Travel Distance & Cost

Imagine leaving work in Vancouver on Friday and having dinner by the ocean in only a couple of hours? The Sunshine Coast is a 40 minute, beautiful, scenic ferry trip from West Vancouver, and your fare is return! From Langdale, you'll travel only 20 minutes or so to the Sechelt area.

Interesting community

Experience and explore new and different things! That's what makes getting away a refreshing experience. Sechelt, the land between two waters, is home to the Shíshálh Nation. The area offers pristine wilderness dotted by tiny quiet beach communities, where there's a sense of ...well: community.

restaurants & local ammenties

Sechelt is not too big, or too small. There's a great selection of grocery stores and restaurants; cute, eclectic shops and important amenities like gas stations, medical clinics and drug stores. There's even a Canadian Tire nearby! 

Access to activities

Artists' studios, Farmer's Markets, festivals, parades, mountain bike trails, rain forest hiking trails, fishing wharves, kayak rentals, and miles of pristine west coast waterfront to explore! Everything is nearby, so you'll be within a few minutes drive or walk to many interesting things.

Look for accuracy in online listings and ask questions. For example:

Will you getting what you see online? Is the beach shown, actually on the property, or is it one in the community that you drive to?

Does the owner take credit cards, should you ever need consumer protection?

Is there 24/7 caretaking for emergencies?

Does the property have a valid busines licence?

Are there many online, independent reviews of the unit you are selecting?

Insurance

Ask about insurance. Are you and your family covered as short term rental guests on the property? When you pay to stay, owners are required to carry appropriate insurance that is different than normal cottage ownership insurance. Owners must also carry appropriate liability insurance for guest use of equipment such as kayaks and boats.
