If you love being on the water, the Sunshine Coast is a beautiful place to be. Everywhere you look the ocean sparkles in the summer breezes, the waves gently wash ashore, the smell of salt and bracken and hot sand and beach rocks hangs in the air, helping you forget about your 'other' life and anchor you in the bliss of your vacation, far away from everyday worries and stresses.

Beachside By the Bay has a great beach that's a perfect launching place for kayaks and rowboats; take a crab pot out with you (you can get them at Trail Bay Sports in Sechelt or Canadian Tire in Wilson Creek) and in about 12 hours you'll have your dinner! Please remember, you must have a valid BC fishing license to crab, and you need to check with local information sources to determine openings and and health-related closures (rare).

Swimming is wonderful in the waters off of Beachside, especially when there has been an early afternoon low tide. When the water comes in it heats from all the rocks and sand and is quite warm for dips and extended play periods. After you're done swimming or boating, relax on Beachside's expansive deck, barbeque your dinner, and enjoy a gorgeous western sunset over the ocean and Vancouver Island - the deck and steps are lit with rope lights to help you head back to your suite or cottage.
