The Sunshine Coast offers so many activities on land that it is difficult to list them all! Guests always say they are going to book a longer stay next time to be able to take more things in, and here's a good place to start for planning:
- Mountain biking on some of BC's best coastal trails. Bring your own bike, or rent one from our friends at On the Edge Biking in Sechelt. They can supply you with maps or you can just ride around town and the beaches.
- Davis Bay - the perfect place for people-watching, seawall-walking, skim-boarding, wave-riding and just plain hanging out. Summer brings out the crowds... and the snack vendors!
- Hiking. The Sunshine Coast has trails for everyone, from easy level walking trails to moderate rainforest trails, to intermediate/expert climbing trails with greater than 180-degree vistas for your reward. Please check out the hiking section on Bigpacific.com, and stop and get a recreation map from the Sechelt Visitor Info Centre while you are here.
-
Skookumchuck Rapids, Egmont - Guests come from all over the world to look at this incredible natural attraction, our most-visited scenic spot. Watch tidal whirlpools and rapids form right in front of your eyes as the seas rush through the narrow constrictions of the entrance into Sechelt Inlet. In summer months you may also get the pleasure of watching highly experienced whitewater river kayakers playing in the waves.

View the artwork, talk with artists, or even take home your own Sunshine Coast work of art. The Coast has one of the highest per-capita ratios of artists to the general population, and many of British Columbia and Canada's finest artists reside here. For more information visit the
Suncoast Arts site.
-
Festivals: have we got festivals! From the annual Hackett Park Craft Fair to the Festival of the Written Arts, the Gibsons Landing Fibre Arts Festival to the Gibsons Sea Cavalcade Festival, there's something going on most months, May through October.
